Explain KLIS failures in assembly: Ponguleti to KCR

Hyderabad: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday demanded that former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who had touted the Kaleshwaram project as the eighth wonder, should come to the state legislative assembly and explain to the people of Telangana why components of the project had collapsed.“The Congress govt is ready to convene a special session of the assembly to discuss and debate the Kaleshwaram issue if KCR suggests a date and time. KCR should also explain to the people whether thousands of crores of public money were drowned in the Godavari due to the collapse of components of the Medigadda and other barrages,” Ponguleti said. The minister was speaking at a programme in Mulugu mandal of Siddipet district, where he, along with Labour minister G Vivek Venkataswamy and Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, handed over sanction letters for the second phase of the Indiramma Houses scheme and title deeds for double-bedroom houses to beneficiaries.Ponguleti and Vivek criticised BRS leaders for their attempts to smear the govt through what they described as false propaganda regarding the project. Despite numerous baseless allegations against the govt, the public continues to reject them, and the people themselves are teaching a fitting lesson to those engaging in politics driven by a thirst for power, Ponguleti alleged.Ponguleti challenged KCR, stating that if he truly wished to offer suggestions for the public good, the assembly was ready for an open discussion on all issues.

On the housing front, Ponguleti said: “The govt has identified 32,000 families in the state still living in thatched huts and announced that Indiramma houses would be sanctioned to them on a priority basis.”Ponguleti criticised the previous BRS govt for constructing double-bedroom houses in Siddipet and a few other areas while completely neglecting other constituencies. “The houses left incomplete by the previous BRS govt, including those in Medak and Hyderabad, are currently being completed, and housing pattas are being issued in the names of women, with priority being given to women’s empowerment,” he added.
