The latest wave of dating speculation surrounding BTS' Jimin and actress Song Da Eun has taken an unexpected turn - with claims spreading online that the idol once posted a "break-up letter" on Weverse. BTS Jimin and Song Da Eun: Dating rumours reignite

The buzz began on August 27, when Song Da Eun uploaded a TikTok video showing a man stepping out of an apartment elevator. Many viewers quickly alleged that the man was Jimin and even recognized the location as his residence, sparking renewed speculation about their relationship.

Complicating matters further, just a day earlier Song Da Eun had gone live and was seen interacting closely with another man, leading some to conclude that she may already be dating someone else. This fueled gossip that her link with Jimin was either fabricated or long over.

On August 31, BigHit Music (HYBE) stepped in with an official statement. The company confirmed that Jimin and Song Da Eun "were once acquainted with mutual affection many years ago" but firmly denied that the two are in a relationship now. Multiple outlets, including Money Today and Korea JoongAng Daily, echoed that they briefly dated around Jimin's enlistment period in late 2023 but have since split.

Where did the 'break-up letter' rumour come from?

The "Weverse letter" narrative began on X (formerly known as Twitter), with a user named @roxicon - infamous among ARMY for spreading anti-BTS posts while simultaneously stanning other groups like BLACKPINK and NewJeans.

The user uploaded screenshots, claiming they were "deleted posts of Jimin crashing out after being dumped by Daeun," and suggested the letter was written for her.
To bolster the claim, they pointed out that Song Da Eun's birthday (June 14) falls just one day after BTS' debut anniversary (June 13), spinning it into a symbolic connection.

As the screenshots spread, some fans panicked, while others dismissed them as manipulative fabrications aimed at stirring unnecessary drama.

Fact check: did Jimin post a 'break-up letter' on Weverse?

No - there is no credible evidence or report suggesting Jimin ever posted a "break-up letter" to Weverse.

What did happen, however, was an entirely unrelated event. In mid-June, following BTS' highly emotional reunion concert, Jimin shared a heartfelt late-night message with fans on Weverse. A mistranslation of that post circulated online, humorously making it seem as though Jimin was "breaking up" with BTS leader RM aka Kim Namjoon. While the misunderstanding caused a brief wave of confusion at the time, it had absolutely nothing to do with Song Da Eun or a real break-up.

JIMIN’s LETTER ON WEVERSE:

when i don’t see you for a while,
i end up really wanting to see you.
but honestly, sometimes even i feel like i’m far away
and when that happens, i end up saying “i miss you” often

Fans push back on the narrative

Many ARMYs have since called out the spread of such rumours, questioning the motives behind accounts like @roxicon. They argue that while fandom spaces often emphasize the importance of idols' mental health, some individuals disregard these values when it comes to BTS, deliberately spreading falsehoods to tarnish their reputation.

this post was the after 1 day of his discharge and in the day of jhope concert test went on bts birthday. This letter was him saying how much he missed the army after seeing a bunch of army at the show

Some fans even recirculated screenshots of Jimin's actual June post, pointing out how it was meant to celebrate BTS' long-awaited reunion as seven after completing their mandatory military service - not to mourn a relationship.

BigHit's official stance

Staying true to its usual policy of not engaging with dating rumours, BigHit broke its silence only after the speculation became widespread. In a rare statement, the company clarified:

"The artist and the individual in question were once acquainted with mutual affection in the past, but that was several years ago, and they are not in a relationship at present. We ask that you refrain from making reckless speculations about their private lives. We earnestly request that you also refrain from any actions that could cause harm to the individual who is being mentioned alongside the artist."

With this, the agency firmly shut down claims that Jimin is currently dating Song Da Eun or that he ever addressed her directly on Weverse.

Who is Song Da Eun?

Song Da Eun first rose to recognition after her appearance on the dating reality show Heart Signal 2 in 2018. Since then, she has acted in dramas such as Can't Lose (2011) and Live and Once Again (2020). Though not a mainstream star, she has maintained relevance through her social media presence - often posting cryptic updates that draw attention. Her latest TikTok, however, has thrown her into the center of K-pop's rumour mill.
