Fake arms manufacturing unit busted in Kasaragod

A fake arms manufacturing unit was busted at Rajapuram in Kasaragod and weapons and related equipment seized by the police in a raid on Wednesday afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, the district police seized two fabricated guns, one incomplete firearm, and a cache of manufacturing equipment at Kottakkunnu, Kallar.

The operation, led by Bekal DySP V.V Manoj and Kanhangad DySP Babu Peringeth, was carried out under the directive of District Police Chief Vijay Bharat Reddy. The raid began around 3.30 p.m. and was executed by a team headed by Rajapuram SI Karunakaran.

Ajith Kumar, who was allegedly running the operation from a rented house, was taken into custody. The police said he was making the weapons using locally sourced materials.

In addition to the weapons, the team seized several tools and components used for firearm production.
