Farm loan waiver, Amma canteens: Vijay measures his govt's work in first 40 days

Speaking in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister Vijay highlighted the achievements of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government during its first 40 days in office. Reflecting on his transition from actor to state leader, Vijay noted the party's 2026 electoral victory, where it secured over 30 percent of the vote without an alliance. The Chief Minister outlined key policy measures, including a cooperative loan waiver for over fourteen lakh farmers, the restoration of Amma canteens, the revival of the Jal Jeevan Mission, and the closure of 717 bars near schools and temples. To ensure a corruption-free administration, the government has initiated drone monitoring against illegal mineral quarrying. Additional measures include deploying patrol vehicles to address power outages, upholding the state's two-language policy, and demanding medical admissions based on Class 12 marks at the NITI Aayog meeting. Despite interruptions from the opposition, the Speaker maintained order, promising the Leader of the Opposition an opportunity to speak.
