Midtjylland's Alamara Djabi is stable after a stabbing in Denmark, waking from a coma following emergency surgery.

A shocking incident off the pitch has left the football world rattled.

FC Midtjylland midfielder Alamara Djabi is now in stable condition after being seriously injured in a stabbing over the weekend.

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday in Herning, the central Danish town where the club is based.

Initially, the situation was extremely serious.

“Alamara Djabi was subsequently in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery," FC Midtjylland said in a statement.

The 19-year-old underwent multiple operations and was placed in an induced coma. But thanks to swift medical intervention, his condition has improved significantly.

“He has awakened from an induced coma and is doing well under the circumstances."

The club also credited emergency responders and hospital staff for their rapid and professional response.

Club And Authorities Step In

Midtjylland confirmed they are working closely with authorities as investigations continue.

“FC Midtjylland is in close dialogue and cooperation with the authorities and is providing support to Alamara Djabi and his family."

Details surrounding the attack remain limited, but local police have verified the timing and location of the incident.

Who Is Djabi?

Djabi, who hails from Guinea-Bissau, is still at the early stages of his professional journey.

He joined FC Midtjylland from Benfica’s academy in 2023 and has made two senior appearances for the Danish side. The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at CD Mafra.

FC Midtjylland, four-time Danish champions and winners as recently as 2024, are currently second in the Danish Superliga, just two points behind AGF.
