What began as a Facebook friendship between a young man from Uttar Pradesh and a girl from Jharkhand soon turned into a dramatic dispute involving police intervention.

According to reports, the girl had accepted a friend request from the Sonbhadra-based youth, who works with Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). Their online chats and video calls soon grew into a relationship. After meeting in person, the two decided to marry, and in a local temple they exchanged vows and performed the traditional saat phere (seven rounds).

The girl claims she left her family behind to start a new life with him. But the story took a shocking turn when she went to her husband’s home in NCL Kakri Colony under Anpara police station limits. Instead of welcoming her, the young man allegedly refused to acknowledge the marriage. “Sorry, who are you? I don’t know you," he reportedly told her.

The bride, stunned by his denial, broke down in tears and then staged a dharna outside the house, accusing him of betrayal. Soon, a crowd gathered in the colony and the matter escalated, prompting police to intervene.

She later lodged a written complaint at the police station, stating that the man lured her into a relationship through Facebook, married her, and is now refusing to accept her as his wife. She has demanded justice and protection of her rights.

Police officials confirmed they are looking into the case. “The legal aspects of the marriage and the allegations made by the girl will be examined. If the claims are found to be true, necessary action will be taken," said officers.

The case has sparked debate in the area, highlighting how relationships formed on social media can sometimes lead to disputes and heartbreak.
