Charles Leclerc has had enough of waiting. After another season of promise without payoff, the Monegasque star says 2026 isn’t just another year for Ferrari — it’s the make-or-break moment.

Ferrari entered 2025 with high expectations. They’d just missed out on the Constructors’ title the year prior and added Lewis Hamilton (yes, the seven-time champion) to supercharge the team. But the dream fizzled fast.

Ferrari’s 2024 rocket became a 2025 question mark. Leclerc salvaged seven podiums, while Hamilton’s best results were P4 in Imola, Austria (twice), Silverstone, and Austin.

Not only did the Scuderia finish the season winless, but Hamilton also endured the first podium-less campaign of his storied career.

The Stakes of 2026

Next year brings all-new power unit and chassis regulations, essentially resetting the competitive order. In simple terms: if Ferrari gets it wrong, they could be stuck behind for years.

That’s exactly why Leclerc — despite having a long-term deal and persistent rumours linking him elsewhere — is laying it out plainly.

Asked whether he still believes he can become a world champion with Ferrari, Leclerc didn’t hesitate.

“I do," he said.

But he made the stakes crystal clear: “Next year will be a crucial year."

Ferrari’s Big Chance

Despite the frustration, Leclerc insists morale in Maranello is still high.

“It’s a huge opportunity to show what Ferrari is capable of," he said.

“It’s now or never. I really hope we start this new era on the right foot. It’s important for the four years after."

The pressure is enormous. Ferrari hasn’t won a championship since 2008 — a drought that feels unimaginable for F1’s most iconic team.

But with regulations resetting, Hamilton on board and Leclerc desperate for a breakthrough, 2026 might finally be the year. Oh well, or so Scuderia fans will hope so.
