HYDERABAD: Despite impressive work in the midfield, India went down to England 2-0 in the final of the FIH women’s World Cup Qualifers at the GMC Balayogi Stadium on Saturday. Goals by Grace Balsdon and Elizabeth Neal on either side of the break, helped England clinch gold.

India, England and bronze medallists Scotland qualified for the World Cup to be held in Belgium and Netherlands from Aug 14 to 30. England remained unbeaten through the tournament. England gained momentum towards the end of the first quarter and secured a penalty corner. Balsdon, the joint top goal scorer in the tournament with five goals along with Teresa Viana of Uruguay, put England ahead by converting their first penalty corner in the 13th minute.
