HYDERABAD: A major fire broke out at a waste management company in the Pashamylaram industrial area on Sunday morning. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. Following the incident, which happened around 8 am, five fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the blaze."Company staff said that sparks had emerged while the material was being unloaded. Prima facie, the fire appears to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, but the actual cause is still unknown. A lorry and a JCB were burnt during the incident," said an official from the Patancheru fire station.The fire official said that the loss incurred by the company due to damage caused by the fire incident could amount to Rs 1 crore. The fire was contained around noon, after four hours. "As the waste management company is located among pharmaceutical companies, we deployed more personnel to extinguish the fire as quickly as possible, before it could spread to other industries," the official added.
This incident comes two weeks after a deadly explosion at Sigachi Industries Pvt Ltd in in the vicinity which left 44 employees dead.
