Star US boxer Floyd Mayweather Junior has announced that he will make a comeback to professional boxing after his Spring 2026 exhibition match against Mike Tyson.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has inked an exclusive promotional deal with CSI Sports/Fight Sports to spearhead the next phase of his career.

He has been retired since 2017.

“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing. From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards, no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience and generate more money with each event than my events," Mayweather said in a written statement to ESPN.

Mayweather stepped away from professional boxing at 40 after his August 2017 knockout victory over MMA star Conor McGregor, finishing with a flawless 50-0 record, including 27 stoppages.

Since then, Mayweather has participated in multiple exhibition bouts against the likes of Logan Paul, Mikuru Asakara and John Gotti III.

It was announced last September that Mayweather and Tyson would square off in an exhibition bout in the spring of 2026. Reports have suggested April 25 in the Democratic Republic of Congo as the proposed date and venue, but the timing hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Mayweather has dominated headlines in recent weeks after filing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Showtime earlier this month. He alleges he is owed ‘at least’ $340 million from his reported $1.2 billion in career fight earnings.

Mayweather would be stepping back into a division now dominated by fighters almost half his age. But with Manny Pacquiao returning to the professional ranks, talk of a long-awaited rematch between the two, more than a decade after their 2015 showdown, has started to gather momentum as a potential pro bout.

“Signing Floyd Mayweather to un-retire after he captures another worldwide audience with his Mike Tyson match-up, highlights our commitment to providing our global audience with the most high-profile fighters in the sport," Richard and Craig Miele, co-founders of CSI Sports/Fight Sports, said in a written statement
