Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Snehal R. said that the ongoing flyover project at Kittur Chennamma Circle in Hubballi will be completed within six months.

She was speaking to press persons on February 18 after reviewing the work on the stretch from Hosur Circle to Chennamma Circle, along with Mahesh Tenginkai, MLA, and other officials.

The Deputy Commissioner said substantial work has already been completed. She said she will review the progress again next week to resolve any coordination issues and to speed up the work.

Acknowledging the delay, she said it is due to shifting of cables, underground drainage problems, and accidents. She also warned that that if the work is not completed within the stipulated six months, the contractor will be blacklisted.

Mr. Tenginkai said the delay in the flyover construction has been raised frequently over the past two to three months, but the district administration was preoccupied with the Chief Minister’s programmes. Now that the new Deputy Commissioner has reviewed the progress, steps will be taken to resolve issues that delayed the project. Work on road stretches causing inconvenience to the public will be completed on priority, he said.

The MLA also said that the construction on Gadag Road had already begun and gained momentum after the relocation of the police station, adding that steps are being taken to complete the flyover at the earliest. To make the city dust-free, steps will be taken to construct cement concrete roads, he promised.

Assistant Executive Engineer Satish M. Nagnoor said that the work at Chennamma Circle is almost over and will be completed by May.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Geetha C.D., Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Assistant Commissioner Vijaykumar, Hubballi City tahsildar Mahesh Bhagavant Gaste, and others accompanied them during the inspection.
