Four persons were arrested for transporting 20 kg ganja in a private bus by the Regional Narcotics Control Cell (RNCC), Khammam team of the EAGLE Force, Telangana.

According to officials, the team intercepted a private bus travelling from Malkangiri in Odisha to Hyderabad following specific intelligence inputs about narcotics transportation.

During the inspection, officers allegedly recovered 20 kg dry ganja valued at ₹10 lakh, besides seizing five mobile phones and the bus used for transportation.

The accused were identified as Ramesh Nagul, 25, a worker from Potrel in Malkangiri district of Odisha, Rajan Kora, 21, engaged in centring work and allegedly acting as transporter, from Potrel in Chitrakonda area of Malkangiri, Bisanka Mallick, 52, a bus driver from MV-28 Kamwada in Malkangiri, and Aravind Gain, 52, another bus driver from Malkangiri district.

Investigators said the contraband was allegedly procured from Ranjan Khara alias Ashok Kumar, a resident of Chithrakonda in Malkangiri district of Odisha, and was being transported into Telangana for illegal sale.

Police said the seizure dealt a major blow to interstate drug trafficking networks attempting to transport narcotics into Telangana and target urban markets and youth. Officials stated that the operation was part of continued efforts to crack down on organised narcotics supply chains operating across state borders.

Police requested citizens to share information related to narcotics through helpline numbers 8712671111 and 1908.
