Madhepura: Four Intermediate examinees were critically injured and a cattle head died after an uncontrolled dumper rammed into a roadside house at Duhbi–Suhbi village under Puraini police station area in Madhepura district on Friday night.
The incident occurred around 1am when the students were resting inside the house. The dumper driver fled the spot after the crash.The injured students were identified as Gopi Kumar, Dilkhush Kumar, Suraj Kumar and Ajeet Kumar — all residents of Ramnagar Belha village under the same police station area. They were staying at the house of Jeevan Yadav to appear for the Intermediate examination at a centre in Puraini.According to police, following the accident, angry locals blocked the state highway for several hours, demanding speed breakers at the accident-prone turn.
The house was also partially damaged.Hearing the victims’ cries, villagers rushed in, rescued them, alerted the police and took the injured to a local hospital. Angry over the incident, locals blocked the road, disrupting vehicular movement for hours. They demanded installation of a speed breaker ahead of the sharp U-turn on the road.Udakishanganj SDPO Avinash Kumar, along with police forces, reached the spot and persuaded villagers to lift the blockade. Police later pulled out the dumper using a JCB machine.Villagers said the driver lost control of the steering, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into the house. They added that the turning point has become fatal for commuters and residents.
