In an announcement by PVR INOX, the iconic films will be re-released in a stunning 4K restored format, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience the masterpiece in its full glory.

As per announcements by PVR Inox, the trilogy is all set to be rereleased in the country across various theatres. The films will be restored in high-quality 4K format to ensure that fans will be able to have the best possible experience during their time in the theatre.

Their official statement read, “For the first time in India, audiences will experience these iconic films on the big screen in close succession”.The first film of the trilogy, ‘The Godfather’, will be available for fans on September 12. The second film, titled ‘The Godfather Part II’, will be available on October 17, and the last picture, ‘The Godfather Part III ’, will be released in theaters on November 14.

The films are based on a novel series written by Mario Puzo. They follow the life of the Corleone family, and explore different aspects of all family members as the name rises to the top, before witnessing a great fall.

The story starts off with the focus kept on the patriarch of the family, Don Vito Corleone, who was played by Marlon Brando. The focus is then shifted to his son, Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino. Michael’s descent into fame and fortune ends becoming the family’s rise to the top, and even shapes how they are known to others around them. The trilogy has managed to set a major benchmark for all films to follow, and is still lauded as one of the biggest masterpieces in cinema’s history. Niharika Bijli, the lead strategist, as per Mint reports, also issued a statement regarding the matter. She shared how big an honour it is for them to bring back such an iconic piece of cinema to the theatres in the country. She also called the trilogy, “the gold standard of cinematic storytelling — a masterclass in performance, direction, and narrative depth”.
