French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron paid homage to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai on Tuesday.

A video shared on X by the official account of French Presidency and the Élysée Palace showed President Macron placing flowers at the memorial honouring those killed in the 2008 attack. The couple also stood in silence to remember the victims at the hotel, one of the sites targeted in the coordinated terror attack on November 26, 2008.

The visit was part of the French President’s official trip to India and underscored France’s solidarity with the people of India. The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel remains a powerful symbol of resilience following the attacks that shook Mumbai and the world.

Macron, PM Modi To Inaugurate India–France Year Of Innovation 2026 Today

During his stay in Mumbai, Macron is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Lok Bhavan in South Mumbai later in the day. The two leaders are expected to assess the progress of the India–France strategic partnership and discuss ways to broaden cooperation in areas such as defence, technology, innovation and digital development. Regional and global issues are also likely to feature in their discussions.

Later, the two leaders will jointly launch the India–France Year of Innovation 2026, an initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration in research, startups and people-to-people exchanges. They are also set to interact with business leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators from both countries, highlighting the expanding economic and technological ties.

After concluding his engagements in Mumbai, Macron will travel to New Delhi to attend the AI Impact Summit. His three-day visit from February 17 to 19 is viewed as an important milestone in advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and France.
