Fresh snowfall at Gangotri, Yamunotri; rain lashes lower areas of Uttarkashi

UTTARKASHI: Amidst a sudden shift in weather patterns, snowfall has occurred at the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines.Meanwhile, intermittent rainfall is being witnessed in the lower-lying areas.

Due to a drop in temperature caused by the rain and snowfall, people have once again been compelled to don warm clothing.On Sunday evening, while rain fell across the lower reaches of all Tehsil areas—including the district headquarters, Uttarkashi—light snowfall occurred at the higher-altitude shrines of Gangotri and Yamunotri.In the Ganga Valley, light snowfall was reported stretching from the Gangotri shrine all the way to Harsil.Meanwhile, in the Yamuna Valley, reports indicate light snowfall extending from the Yamunotri shrine to Kharsali. Consequently, winter-like conditions have once again returned to the district due to the rain and snowfall.
