A routine day turned extraordinary for N.V. Padmanabhan, a 51-year-old supermarket worker from Neduva in Parappanangadi, Malappuram, after he won the Rs 10 crore first prize in the Kerala State Lottery’s Summer Bumper draw. What began as an ordinary moment soon transformed his life overnight, as news of the massive win quickly spread and captured widespread attention.

Padmanabhan has been working at a supermarket in Kozhichena for the past eight years. He purchased the winning ticket numbered SB 517026 in Palakkad on March 26, while returning from a temple visit in Coimbatore.

He is not a habitual lottery player and says he bought the ticket solely because it was a “Bumper" edition.

Padmanabhan learned about his life-changing win on Tuesday morning, a moment that brought immense joy to his family. He lives with his wife, Smitha, and their two children—Sreehari, a Class 10 student, and Parvana, who studies in Class 7. The family expressed happiness over the unexpected windfall, Mathrubhumi reported.

After the announcement, Padmanabhan handed over the winning ticket to the manager of the SBI branch in Parappanangadi. The win marks a major turning point for the supermarket worker, whose occasional lottery purchase has now brought him a bumper prize.

The first-prize ticket, numbered SB 517026, was sold by Palakkad district agent S. Madhusoodanan. Meanwhile, the second prize of Rs 1 crore went to ticket SE 660573, which was also sold in Palakkad. The ticket was distributed through Sree Mookambika Lucky Centre near the Palakkad Municipal Bus Stand and later sold at a lottery shop near the KSRTC stand.
