To what extent can a podcast be entertaining? Yes, it can be unscripted and unfiltered. But can two podcasters simply chat about their aunts just because their guest isn’t currently a highly sought-after player by any NFL team? That’s exactly what materialized on Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast.
The podcast boasts over 741K subscribers and even garnered over 200,000 views on yesterday’s episode featuring former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis. But what was so interesting? What really intrigued viewers and listeners? Let’s dive in.

Gabe Davis could sign for New York Giants or Pittsburgh Steelers?
Gabe Davis is currently a free agent after having been released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Gabe had recorded his career low with the Jaguars–just 20 passes. The Jaguars released him after he failed a physical.
On May 14, Rotowire reported that the 2020 fourth-rounder is recovering from a meniscus tear that he suffered in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions but is expected to be fully healthy by the start of the 2025 regular season. On May 16, Mike Fisher of Athlon Sports reported that the New York Giants did not sign Gabe Davis, but they fed him. The Giants GM Joe Schoen told Kay Adams on Up&Adams Podcast, “So, he’s coming off an injury; he was cut by Jacksonville.
He came up for a visit.
He hadn’t been in New York to see our facility, our staff. Just a little 'get to know' meeting yesterday, went out for dinner, and then we’ll see if anything transpires here down the road.” Then in June, Davis visited the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he left the team’s facility without signing a contract. In July, the wideout was linked again with the New York Giants.
Buffalo Bills or Kansas City Chiefs–which one’s suitable for Gabe Davis?
On August 10, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report linked the Buffalo Bills with Gabe Davis– “Gabe Davis, who spent the first four seasons in Buffalo before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024, would be a logical candidate.”On August 15, Marissa Myers of The Wrightway Sports Network LLC predicted that Gabe Davis could take the place of Rashee Rice in the Kansas City Chiefs.
Gabe Davis could replace Rashee Rice at the Kansas City Chiefs
A month back, Jeff Fedotin of Forbes mentioned that Gabe Davis could rescue the Chiefs. How? Let’s check out his reasons:
- Davis played for the Buffalo Bills when they played against the Kansas City Chiefs.
- The Chiefs saw Davis firsthand. He accumulated eight catches for 201 yards and four touchdowns in the 42-36 win by the Chiefs.
- They have more than $20 million in cap space for 2025, despite extending right guard Trey Smith.
- The Chiefs are known to bring players who have succeeded against them. Examples? RB Samaje Perine, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals, rushed for 106 yards in a win against the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 season. Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid said, “We all know what he did to us when he was at Cincinnati with that screenplay.”
- Davis could be an intriguing option for a Chiefs team that could need a position group that had seemed very stable before Rashee Rice’s incident.
