Girls outshine boys in Gujarat board SSC, HSC supplementary exams

Gandhinagar: Girls significantly outshone boys across all academic streams as the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board on Friday declared the results for Classes X and XII supplementary exams held in June.

While the HSC general stream recorded a pass percentage of 60.9%, the HSC science stream saw a much lower success rate, with only 27.4% of candidates clearing the exam.Meanwhile, the Class 10 supplementary exams yielded an overall pass percentage of 33.05%.Out of 40,233 HSC general stream candidates who registered for the exam, 33,944 appeared and 20,658 qualified. The vocational section recorded a 65.63% success rate, while the higher secondary basic section registered 67.86%.

Regular students outpaced repeaters, clearing the exam with a 62% pass rate compared with 45.8% for the latter.In HSC science stream, out of 16,120 students who appeared from the 18,549 registered, only 4,411 cleared the exam. Group-wise data showed Group A leading at 32.29%, followed by Group B at 25.85% and Group AB at 14.29%. Girls led the charts in both A and B groups. Regular science students recorded a 28.80% pass rate, while repeaters stood at 18.31%.

The SSC supplementary exam saw 30,845 candidates clearing the test out of 93,321 who appeared. Girls significantly outshone boys with a 39.26% pass rate against 29.86%. Regular Class 10 candidates registered 36.13%, while repeaters lagged at 23.54%.The supplementary exams were conducted between June 11 and June 20 across various district centres.
