Construction of a new office of YSR Congress Party in Dasannapeta of Vizianagaram district kicked off a controversy, with strong objection coming from the Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju who has alleged that the officials tampered records and showed his family property as government lands.
The land is around four acres and 75 cents and is located in the prime area of the Ring Road of Vizianagaram. The then YSRCP government had allocated this land to YSRCP on May 18, 2022 on lease basis as land was classified as the government property.
According to Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the land of Survey No.569 was recorded as a private land in the Town Survey Register of Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation long ago. He charged that the authorities had not given notices to legal heirs of PVG Raju and showed the property as the government lands in the year 2021 during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
Mr. Ashok wrote a detailed letter to the Collector on May 23, 2025, seeking him to resume the land in favour of the Pusapati family since YSRCP government had ‘tampered’ the records to benefit the ruling party. Speaking to media recently in Vizianagaram, Mr. Ashok said he had requested the State government to order an inquiry and take action on the officials who had changed the records to favour the YSRCP during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s regime.
“What is the basis on which it is determined that the land belonged to the government when the Town Survey Records showed it is a private land settled on Vizianagaram Estate?” Mr. Ashok questioned in the letter written to the Collector.
YSRCP Vizianagaram district president and Zilla Parishad chairperson Majji Srinivasa Rao said the Revenue and Municipal officials had followed due procedure in allocation of the land to the party on lease basis. He said it was unfair to raise the issue after the construction of the new party office in the land located near Dasannapeta in the year 2022. He said the Pusapati family had not raised any objection during the allocation of the land and construction of the new building.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said Mr. Ashok had been putting pressure on the administration as NDA was in power. He said there was no need for YSRCP to take private lands for the construction of the building for the party. The senior officials of the district were tight lipped over the issue and simply said the issue had been brought to the notice of the State government.
