New Delhi: Google has started to release its latest notebook feature in its Gemini application. Those users who rely on the application for studying, research, or other ongoing tasks, where managing multiple chats and files can get confusing.
With recent upgrades in notebooks, users can keep everything in one place rather than switching between conversations. This feature also works with NotebookLM, so any chats or files added in the Gemini are automatically available there, making it easier to continue work across both applications.
Notebooks act like a personal knowledge base inside the Gemini. The users can create a notebook from the side panel and group related chats under one topic. They can also move those older conversations into the notebook by making it easier to keep everything organized.
The users can add files such as documents and PDFs. These files will offer Gemini more context, so the responses are more relevant to the topic. Users can also set custom instructions within the notebook, which enables the AI to understand better what kind of responses are needed from the users.
The main purpose of the notebooks is going to reduce the clutter and manage ongoing work. Rather than starting fresh with every latest chat, users can continue building on the existing information stored in the notebook. Once the notebook is set up, the Gemini uses the saved chats, uploaded files, and its own tools, like web search, to offer more detailed and context-aware answers.
This can be very useful for long-term tasks such as exam preparation, research projects, or learning a new skill.
Notebooks can also be connected with NotebookLM, enabling users to access the same content across both applications. Any file or cha can be added in the Gemini, and it will automatically appear in NotebookLM, and the same applies the other way around. This sync makes it more convenient to switch between tools.
This feature is starting to roll out first to users with Google AI Ultra, Pro, and Plus subscriptions on the web. Google has also plans to extend its access to mobile devices, more regions, and free users in the coming weeks.
