New Delhi: Google has recently started rolling out its access to Project Genie, which is an experimental research prototype that enables users to design, explore, and remix interactive worlds using AI-generated environments. The prototype is now available to Google AI Ultra subscribers aged 18 and above in the US. This latest Project Genie is built on Google’s Genie 3 world model and is a way for users to experiment with the immersive world creation, following limited testing with select users.

Now, there will be some of the users who don’t even know about what Project Genie is. It is a web-based prototype that was developed in Google Labs, and it is powered by Genie 3, along with the Nano Banana Pro and Gemini. It is especially designed to give the users direct access to Google’s general-purpose world model, which simulates dynamic environments that respond in real-time to the users’ actions. The prototype is built on Google’s earlier preview of Genie 3 in August 2025, which demonstrated the model’s ability to generate interactive worlds rather than static 3D scenes.

Project Genie can focus on three core capabilities that are: world sketching, world exploration and world remixing. With the world sketching, users can create environments using text prompts as well as generated or uploaded images. They can define characters, landscapes, and modes of movement, such as walking, driving, or flying. World sketching is integrated with the Nano Banana Pro, which enables users to preview and adjust images before entering the world. Users can also choose perspectives, including first-person or third-person views, before beginning exploration.

World Exploration enables the users to navigate these environments as they are generated in real-time. As the users move through the world, Project Genie predicts and creates the path ahead based on their actions. Users can also adjust the camera angles while traversing the environment. World Remixing, in this, users can build on the existing world by modifying their underlying prompts. Project Genie also enables users to explore curated worlds through the gallery or the built-in randomiser for inspiration, and then remix them to view the latest experience. To access the Project Genie, it is rolling out for the Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States aged 18 and above. Google has also stated that the prototype will expand to more regions in the future, though no timeline has been announced yet by the company.
