Google's AI Mode can now book restaurant tables for you in India

Google's AI Mode in India now simplifies restaurant reservations. Users can specify party size, date, time, and cuisine, with AI scanning Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner for live options and direct booking links. This integration, powered by Project Mariner and Google Maps, aims to streamline multi-app processes into a single search.

Google has started rolling out agentic capabilities in AI Mode for users in India, beginning with restaurant reservation discovery. The feature lets users describe exactly what they're looking for—party size, date, time, location, preferred cuisine—and AI Mode handles the rest, scanning platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner in real time to surface available options and link directly to booking pages. The idea is to collapse what's normally a multi-app process into a single Search query.Powered by Project Mariner, Google Maps, and Live Web BrowsingUnder the hood, the feature draws on Project Mariner's live web browsing capabilities, Google's Knowledge Graph, and Maps integration. It doesn't just pull static listings—it checks live availability across partner platforms and compiles a curated shortlist. Once a user picks a restaurant, AI Mode links out directly to the booking page to complete the reservation.Google says this is just the start. More agentic use cases and partner integrations are expected to follow, though the company hasn't specified a timeline for what comes next. The restaurant booking feature is part of a broader push to deepen Google's AI footprint in India. In recent weeks, the company also expanded Search Live to nine additional Indian languages—Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu—powered by the Gemini 3.1 Flash Live model. Shopping in AI Mode also received an overhaul around the same time, with shoppable listings, comparison tables, and purchase links now surfacing directly in chat.
