Groom dies moments before wedding rituals in East Champaran

Bettiah: A wedding celebration turned into mourning after a 25-year-old groom died suddenly moments before the marriage ceremony at a temple in East Champaran on Thursday.Shaktinath Sharma, son of late Jagdish Sharma and a resident of Bharwalia under Sariswa panchayat in West Champaran, had arrived with the wedding procession at Chikni village under Ramgarhwa police station area.

He was to marry Raghuni Kumari at the Janaki Temple in Ramgarhwa.Family members said the bride and groom were seated in the wedding mandap and the marriage rituals were about to begin when Shaktinath complained of severe stomach pain.He was rushed to a private hospital and later referred to SRPS Hospital in Raxaul after his condition worsened. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.The tragedy plunged both families into grief with the wedding celebrations giving way to mourning. Instead of the bride’s farewell, the groom’s body was taken back to his native village.His elder brother, Karma Sharma, said, “Shaktinath was the youngest among three brothers. Our parents had passed away earlier.”
