In a remarkable achievement, the Guruvayur municipality has secured a hat-trick by winning the prestigious Swaraj Trophy for the best municipality in the State for the third consecutive year.
The award recognises excellence in decentralised governance, effective planning, and exemplary implementation of development and welfare initiatives. Guruvayur earned the top State-level honour for its consistent administrative efficiency and people-centric governance.
The award was announced by Local Self-Governments M.B. Rajesh. The Swaraj Trophy carries a cash prize of ₹50 lakh, along with a trophy and citation.
The municipality’s sustained efforts in scientific waste management, eradication of extreme poverty, optimal utilisation of plan funds, and effective implementation of welfare schemes for the elderly and persons with disabilities played a key role in securing the accolade.
Additionally, its model initiatives in agriculture, education, and inclusive development have established Guruvayur as a benchmark in local governance, earning recognition both within the State and at the national level.
