Five people, including two women, have been arrested after they were accused of being involved in the alleged gangrape of a minor girl who was kidnapped from Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior earlier this year. A sixth accused, however, is absconding.
According to the police, the survivor was kidnapped in January this year and taken to Bengaluru. A police complaint was lodged in the matter by the girl's mother in February, an official said. She had claimed that her daughter was lured to Bengaluru.
Following the complaint, the police launched a search for the child, who was eventually rescued from Bengaluru. A man holding her captive was also arrested from the scene, per the police.
Following her rescue, the minor was kept at a temporary shelter in Gwalior by the authorities. After spending a month there, the girl was reunited with her family, an official said.
At home, the child allegedly narrated her previously untold ordeal to her mother, leading the woman to lodge another police complaint.
The girl's mother claimed in the complaint that her daughter was not only held hostage in Bengaluru but also gangraped. The complainant alleged that two women also facilitated the abduction and the subsequent sexual exploitation.
An FIR was registered against six people – four men and two women – on the basis of the complaint. According to the FIR, the accused had various roles. While some of them helped in the kidnapping, others allegedly raped her.
One of the men named in the case is on the run and efforts are underway to trace him.
