HC allows plea to delete homemaker’s land from prohibited list
Hyderabad: Telangana high court has issued interim orders excluding 3.09 acres of land claimed by a 61‑year‑old woman in Bachupally from restrictions imposed in an ongoing land ceiling dispute.Justice NV Shravan Kumar, in his recent directions, granted the petitioner liberty to approach the authorities for deletion of her property from the prohibited list and directed that such an application be decided within three months. The petitioner, Nimmagadda Vijaya Rani, a homemaker, stated that she inherited 3.09 acres in survey No. 83 through succession from her father, late Nimmagadda Purna Chandra Rao, whose rights were duly recorded in revenue documents. She argued that her land was distinct from the surplus lands involved in the ceiling case but was wrongly included under restrictions following a high court interim order in April 2025.She further pointed out that while the writ petition concerned only 5.25 acres, authorities extended restrictions to the entire 17.30 acres in survey No. 83, thereby affecting her property and preventing its transfer or alienation.
“The land in this survey number was originally sold to different purchasers under separate registered sale deeds with clearly identifiable boundaries, and there was no overlap between my property and the land involved in the ceiling proceedings,” her counsel submitted.Taking note of past land records and earlier rulings under section 22A of the Registration Act, the court observed that an aggrieved person has a statutory remedy to seek deletion of property from the prohibited list.It emphasised that such applications must be decided through a reasoned order after granting an opportunity of hearing and adjourned the matter.
