Former US Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday (local time) launched a sharp attack at President Donald Trump, saying that the latter is a “mob boss" and under his leadership, America has “lost influence" on the world stage.

While speaking a the National Action Network Conference, Harris warned that Trump’s war with Iran, his attacks on NATO, and other foreign policy decisions are weakening the United States’ standing in the world.

She also used strong language to criticise Trump’s supporters in Congress. She said that she would use “the F-word" to describe Trump’s allies on Capitol Hill, calling it “an appropriate" term, though she did not elaborate further in detail.

She went on to liken Trump’s leadership style to that of an organised crime figure. “He kind of acts like a mob boss," Harris said, offering a hypothetical impression of Trump dividing global influence among major powers. “You take Eastern Europe, I’ll take the Western Hemisphere… and we’ll just divide it up," she said.

Harris also painted a bleak picture of America’s global standing under Trump’s leadership, saying it keeps her “up at night." She argued that the United States has become “increasingly unreliable as a partner" to its allies and claimed the country has “lost influence" on the world stage.

During the event, she also signalled another run for the US presidency. “I might, I might. I’m thinking about it, I’m thinking about it," Harris said, as the crowd at the New York City event cheered in response.

Harris added that she would consider a run in the context of who, in 2028, could do the best job as president “for the American people."

Harris, who served as Vice President under Joe Biden, lost her 2024 presidential bid to President Donald Trump, who won ‌both the popular vote and the Electoral College. Harris had previously served as a U.S. senator and as attorney general of California, among other offices. Harris made an unsuccessful run to be the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in 2020.
