Head out of bus window, teen killed in accident

Hubballi: A 17-year-old ITI student died on the spot in a road accident on Kundgol Road in Hubballi on Wednesday evening after being struck by a truck while he had his head outside a bus window. The deceased was identified as Fakiresh Channaiah Muthalli, a resident of Shirur village.

Police said an NWKRTC bus travelling to Lakshmeshwar via Kundgol collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact affected the student, who was seated in the rear section of the bus. Dharwad SP Gunjan Arya told TOI that due to rain, the drivers of both vehicles were unable to maintain proper control over their speed. At the time of the accident, Fakiresh, who was feeling unwell and vomiting, had his head outside the window of the moving bus. He was struck by the side mirror of the tipper truck, resulting in fatal injuries.
