Kochi: IMD has said that northern and central parts of Kerala will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday. While it has issued an orange alert for Kannur and Kasaragod and yellow alert for rest of the districts in the two regions, no alert has been issued for southern districts.Districts from Ernakulam to Wayanad will be on yellow alert on Monday. On Tuesday, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod will be on orange alert, while Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam will be on yellow alert.It warned strong surface winds with speed occasionally reaching 40-50kmph is likely to prevail over Kerala and Lakshadweep till Tuesday.The state so far received 55cm rainfall till Sunday morning in the current season, with deficiency of 27%. Wayanad continues to experience high deficient rainfall with 63%. It is followed by another high-range district Idukki with deficiency touching 50%.
