Similarly, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in North and South Interior Karnataka districts, including Bengaluru Urban. A senior IMD scientist from the Bengaluru centre said, "The widely distributed rainfall across Karnataka is attributed to two prevailing weather conditions - the upper air cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and a trough from a similar feature extending up to coastal Andhra Pradesh across Telangana. This apart, the earlier cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal merged with yet another cyclonic circulation near South Bangladesh.

All these conditions influenced rainfall over Karnataka."Red alert districts (extremely very heavy rainfall): Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamgaluru, Kodagu & Shivamogga.Orange alert districts (very heavy rainfall): Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Chamarajanagar, Davanagere, Hassan & Mysuru.Yellow alert districts (heavy rainfall): Mandya, Koppal, Kalaburagi & Bidar.
