Tirupati: Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has announced an expansive investment roadmap of over ₹3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh. As part of its expansion plans, the company broke ground for its second Global Parts Centre (GPC) at Madanapalem village under Satyavedu mandal in Tirupati district.
This facility alone represents a direct investment of over ₹750 crore and is set to position Rayalaseema region as the state’s primary manufacturing, electric mobility, and logistics hub.Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, alongside Hero MotoCorp executive chairman Pawan Munjal, laid the foundation stone for the cutting-edge facility in Tirupati district on Wednesday. Lauding the company’s decision to deepen its roots in the state, Naidu called the initiative a major validation of Andhra Pradesh’s investor-friendly environment and emphasis on the 'Speed of Doing Business’.
The expansion is anticipated to act as an economic catalyst, generating around 4,000 fresh employment opportunities and playing a critical role in realizing the state’s ‘Swarna Andhra’ development goals.The Tirupati Global Parts Centre will function as the strategic hub for both domestic and international spare parts logistics. Crucially, the Tirupati plant will handle 100% of Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle portfolio under the VIDA brand, with the entire design, engineering, and manufacturing operations to be managed locally.
The plant’s annual production capacity is projected to aggressively scale to between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units, cementing Tirupati’s position at the forefront of the country’s next-generation green mobility shift.The event carried significant sentimental weight, coinciding with the 103rd birth anniversary of Hero MotoCorp founder and chairman emeritus, Brijmohan Lall Munjal. To honour his legacy of community empowerment, the company launched two significant social initiatives in partnership with the state govt.The 'Dr Brijmohan Lall Munjal Heroes of Tomorrow Scholarship' program will provide full tuition coverage for meritorious engineering students at state IIITs across 28 districts. Additionally, to advance safety and clean transportation, the company deployed a fleet of VIDA electric scooters and arranged specialized road safety training for women police personnel throughout the Tirupati district.
