Himanta Biswa Sarma sworn-in as Assam CM | A look at the faces in his cabinet
Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rameswar Teli, Ajanta Neog, Asom Gana Parishad’s Atul Bora, and Bodoland People’s Front’s Charan Boro, were sworn in as cabinet ministers in Assam, alongside Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
For a consecutive second term, Sarma took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam at Veterinary College ground in Guwahati in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers of several NDA-ruled states.

A Look At Team Himanta
- Rameswar Teli: After a decade in Parliament, Rameswar Teli made a comeback to state politics. He secured victory from Duliajan, a constituency he had earlier represented between 2001 and 2011.
- Ajanta Neog: A senior BJP leader and one of Sarma’s closest political aides, Ajanta won the Golaghat seat for the sixth consecutive time and is regarded as the state’s longest-serving woman legislator.
- Atul Bora: President of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a key ally of the NDA in Assam, Atul retained the Bokakhat constituency in the latest election and has represented the seat since 2016.
- Charan Boro: Charan Boro represents the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in the new cabinet. He was elected from Majbat for the third time.
Assam Assembly Election 2026
The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) registered a record victory in Assam for a third consecutive term, securing 102 of the 126 seats.
The BJP bagged 82 seats — 18 more than the majority mark of 64 — while its allies, the AGP and BPF won 10 seats each.
The Congress won just 19 seats, its poorest performance in the state since 2016, when the BJP dethroned its 15-year-old government.
