Yadgir: A brief period of tension prevailed on Thursday after a bomb threat was received via email at the district court near Mudnal Cross. Court staff and lawyers evacuated the building as a precaution after the threatening message, sent by an unidentified person, arrived at the court’s official email address.Yadgir police, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the Dog Squad, rushed to the spot and carried out an extensive search of the court building and its premises. The inspection covered the parking area, courtrooms and other public spaces. According to police sources, the threat email was sent from an email ID in the name of ‘Jamisha Mubeen’. The message stated: “Thirteen poison gas devices and RDX bombs will explode in the court today between 1.20pm and 3pm.
Immediately evacuate the judges and the public.”Following the threat, police implemented stringent security measures to prevent any untoward incident. However, no explosive materials were found during the search operation, which lasted several hours. Police suspect the email was a hoax. Officials also suspect the incident may be linked to a series of threatening emails recently received by district courts across the state. Cybercrime police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the email.
Security at the court complex has since been tightened, and further investigation is underway.
