The Sprite system in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Runners has been one of the major highlights. After introducing Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy variants over the course of the Fortnite Gone Wild event, Epic Games is now preparing to add the most visually striking Sprite in the form of the Holofoil Sprite.

When do Holofoil Sprites release in Fortnite?
Holofoil Sprites are all set to release in Fortnite with the next update on July 9, 2026. The Sprites were accidentally activated early in the game via a Rift Anomaly, allowing some players to obtain them before Epic turned them back off briefly. Those players did not get to keep them, but the accidental release confirmed that Holofoil Sprites are fully built and ready. Alongside the Holofoil Sprites, the July 9 update is also expected to bring a Batman Sprite and additional new Sprites into the rotation.
What are Holofoil Sprites?
Holofoil Sprites are a new variant rarity that sits above Galaxy Sprites in the rarity hierarchy. Their unique holographic foil visual pattern separates them from the metallic Gold, translucent Gummy, and deep-space Galaxy designs that came before them. Every existing Sprite in the game will have a Holofoil variant, making for a full set of 15 at launch:

What is the Holofoil Sprite effect?
Every Sprite variant in Fortnite comes with a rarity-specific bonus effect on top of the base Sprite ability.
For Holofoil Sprites, that bonus effect is a 5% increased chance of finding rare Sprites, and the buff applies to your entire squad, not just yourself. This means that in a full squad of four where every player is running a Holofoil Sprite, the team could theoretically stack a 20% rare Sprite find bonus collectively, making Holofoil Sprites exceptionally powerful for those who want to hunt Sprites in the later weeks of Chapter 7 Season 3.
Where to find Holofoil Sprites in Fortnite?
Holofoil Sprites share the same spawn locations as their base counterparts. If a specific Sprite type is associated with a particular POI or chest type, the Holofoil version follows those same rules. Similar to all the other Sprites in the game, the Sprite Chests remain the most reliable farming method. Vaults are the best early-match destination for guaranteed Sprite Chest access.
