Home alone woman robbed of valuables worth over ₹18 lakh near Agumbe in Shivamogga

A group of people robbed a home alone woman of her valuables after tying her hands and stuffing cloth in her mouth at Lakkunda village near Agumbe in Tirthahalli taluk on Tuesday. The robbers allegedly took away valuables worth over ₹18 lakh.

Vishalakshi, 74, was alone at her house, located about 200 m away from the main road, on Tuesday afternoon when a person knocked on the door and requested drinking water. As she was alone in the house, the woman did not respond. A few minutes later, she opened the back door , and three people barged into her house and overpowered the elderly woman, stuffing a cloth into her mouth and tying her hands. They took away 146 grams of gold, valued at ₹17.52 lakh, and another ₹51,000 in cash.
