Swati Maliwal alleged that the founding ideals of honesty and transparency that defined AAP have now been “abandoned.”

Two-thirds of the Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MPs have quit the party and will join the BJP as a faction.
In a dramatic political development, Swati Maliwal has announced her resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), levelling serious allegations against party chief Arvind Kejriwal and signaling deepening turmoil within the party.
In a post on X, Maliwal alleged that the founding ideals of honesty and transparency that defined AAP have now been “abandoned." Her most serious claims include accusations of physical assault at Kejriwal’s residence, stating she was “brutally beaten" and subjected to indecent treatment. She further alleged that the individual responsible was protected and even rewarded with influential positions within the party.

Maliwal also claimed she faced threats and intimidation aimed at silencing her, while raising broader concerns about what she described as rising corruption, the promotion of “thuggish elements," and increasing incidents of harassment against women within the party’s ecosystem.
7 Rajya Sabha MPs Leave AAP
In a big blow to AAP on Friday, seven of its Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, quit the party. Addressing a press conference, Chadha said that two-thirds of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MPs have quit the party and will join the BJP as a faction.
“AAP, that I nurtured with my blood and sweat and to which I gave 15 years of my youth, has completely strayed from its principles, values and core morals," he said. “They have already signed, and this morning we submitted all the required documentation, including signed letters and other formal paperwork, to the chairman of the Rajya Sabha," Chadha added.
The move comes after Chadha was removed as the deputy leader of AAP in the Rajya Sabha and was replaced by Mittal in the Upper House.
