House collapse during repairs kills 2 workers in Athani village

Belagavi: Two workers lost their lives after a house collapsed during repair work in Kottalagi village of Athani taluk on Sunday.The house, belonging to Laxmibai Nandagond, had reportedly developed leaks following incessant rainfall over the past week.

Repair work was underway when the structure suddenly gave way, trapping workers Mahadev Krishnappa Badiger, 48, and Syed Kempavadi, 32, under the debris and mud.Locals immediately launched a rescue operation and pulled the two men from the rubble. They were rushed to Jatt Hospital in neighbouring Maharashtra for treatment.However, both workers succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.Police said the collapse occurred while repair work was in progress at the rain-damaged house. A case has been registered at Aigali police station, and further investigation is underway.
