As many as 61 cases have been registered, 15 tonnes of adulterated food products seized, and 64 persons arrested in the past one month as part of a crackdown on food adulteration in the city.

Taking to X, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar described food adulteration as a “silent, deadly attack” on households, warning that even everyday items are being compromised. He said products ranging from biscuits and ice creams to essentials such as ginger-garlic paste, tea powder, milk and curd are being adulterated, posing serious risks to public health.

He termed the scale and brazenness of such acts as deeply alarming and stressed that there would be zero tolerance for those endangering lives for profit.

Sajjanar also welcomed the decision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to establish a dedicated food safety system. In line with this, the Hyderabad Commissionerate has set up the H-FAST team to crack down on adulteration networks. He added that efforts to ensure safe and trustworthy food would be intensified further.
