Quinshon Judkins back for Browns vs Ravens after weak rushing opener.
As the Cleveland Browns prepare for a tough AFC North road test against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, all eyes are on rookie running back Quinshon Judkins, who is back in the lineup after missing training camp.
While the Browns are counting on his physical style to revive their struggling run game, Judkins also found himself fielding questions about a looming NFL disciplinary decision. When asked about the league’s conduct policy and potential punishment, Judkins said, “I can’t control that.”The rookie’s off-field situation stems from an incident in Florida, but prosecutors declined to press charges last month. Still, the NFL has yet to make a ruling, leaving his status under league policy uncertain.
For now, Judkins has been cleared to play and is expected to see the field against Baltimore.
Kevin Stefanski and coaches monitoring Judkins’ workload and readiness
After missing significant practice time this summer, Judkins has returned to full team activities and is working his way back into the Browns’ offensive scheme. Head coach Kevin Stefanski shared an optimistic update and said, “We’ve been able to work with him physically over the last few days. He appears to be in good shape, but I think it’s important that we take this day by day.”
The Browns will manage Judkins’ snap count carefully, especially against a Baltimore defense that ranks among the NFL’s best against the run. Still, the staff is confident in his grasp of the playbook after a strong showing in spring and minicamps. Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees added, “Definitely, there’s a good starting ground for him.”
Browns need a spark after rushing struggles in Week 1 loss
Cleveland’s Week 1 effort on the ground was far from effective – just 49 rushing yards on 24 carries, raising red flags heading into this divisional matchup.
The team hopes Judkins’ downhill style and strength after contact will provide a much-needed jolt against Baltimore’s front seven. Baltimore’s run defense has been dominant historically and allowed just 80 rushing yards per game last season. The Browns have rushed for over 100 yards in six of their last 10 meetings with the Ravens under Stefanski, but doing so this week will be an uphill climb unless Judkins quickly finds a rhythm.
Browns and Ravens both looking to bounce back in AFC North showdown
Both teams are coming off frustrating Week 1 losses. The Ravens blew a fourth-quarter lead to Buffalo, while the Browns fell short despite outgaining their opponent. Joe Flacco, now Cleveland’s quarterback, will return to Baltimore looking for redemption against his former team. Also read: “You could have a quarterback damn near perfect…”: Micah Parsons warns Buffalo Bills that strong defense is key after Packers’ big winDespite the distractions and physical challenge, Judkins could play a pivotal role in Cleveland’s game plan. If the rookie can deliver in his debut, it may mark both a personal milestone and a crucial moment in the Browns’ early-season turnaround.
