When I look back, my journey feels like several different chapters stitched together by curiosity, hard work, and the belief that change is always an opportunity. It began at Delhi University, where I pursued my graduation, followed by a Master’s in finance and control at Punjab University, Chandigarh.
Years later, I was privileged to attend the Leadership Program for Women at Harvard University, a milestone that not only expanded my global perspective but also reinforced my commitment to leadership rooted in integrity and adaptability.I volunteered to set up a biz unit | One of the most defining moments in my career was when I volunteered to set up a new business vertical – lending services. It wasn’t just about building a team; it was about earning trust, creating governance frameworks, and developing future leaders.
The early days were tough, and I questioned myself. But I chose to rise, learn, and start again. What began as a 40-member team grew to over 1,000 in eight years, and today I lead a team of 3,000.Ability to adapt is critical | What has kept me rooted at the intersection of banking and technology is the sheer power of transformation, how technology has redefined banking, and how offshore partners like us have played a pivotal role in solving complex global challenges.
Navigating this shift meant constantly upskilling and helping teams see technology as a strategic enabler rather than a threat. This ability to adapt has been central to my growth.
My mantra has always been simple: hard work, integrity, and adaptability. Change is inevitable and embracing it makes you stronger.I’ve built an infra for work-life balance | When I started, women made up just 10% of the team. Today, we’re at 37%, and I’m proud to have contributed to that change.
Believing in the “art of possible” keeps me agile and open to growth. Balancing work and life, especially while leading global teams, has meant building an infrastructure around me – micro-breaks with family, celebrating festivals with colleagues, and creating shared memories that keep me grounded.I want to be remembered for encouraging women to lead with confidence, for proving that change is not disruption but transformation, and for showing that imagination, empathy, and bold thinking can move industries forward. To every woman in technology, I advise raising your hand for challenging opportunities, and remember that your unique perspective isn’t just valuable, it’s essential for our industry’s future.Rajul Sood is managing director and head of banking at Acuity Knowledge Partners
