Speaking at an event for the Indian community, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto proudly claimed that he had "Indian DNA" in the presence of PM Modi.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto drew the loudest applause at an Indian community event in Jakarta after he proudly claimed that he had “Indian DNA" in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the event in Jakarta, Prabowo said, “Just before I made my state visit to India, I had what is called a genome sequencing test. I tested my DNA, and I found out I had Indian DNA. That’s why I think every time I hear some music, especially Indian music, I find my body moving."

His remarks drew loud cheers and applause from the Indian crowd. Prabowo further revealed that several of his ministers and generals also liked to sing Indian songs, adding, “Maybe most of them have Indian DNA too."

He also described himself as a friend to all Indians, saying Indonesians must learn from the experience of India. “Our civilisation, our culture are strongly influenced by the Indian civilisation. Our language is around 50% from Sanskrit. Many of our names are Sanskrit names," he added.
