I-PAC has suspended all its operations in West Bengal, just four days before the Assembly polls, following raids by central agencies. This was announced through a mail by the HR on Monday. The development comes amid ongoing legal issues involving the organisation.

In an internal mail, the management informed employees about the decision to halt work with immediate effect. The message said the step was taken “in view of certain legal issues".

The organisation stated that it respects the law and is cooperating with the ongoing process. It also expressed confidence that justice will take its due course.

Employees asked to go on leave

As part of the move, all employees and team members have been asked to take a short leave for 20 days. The mail said the team would regroup after this period and review the situation.

According to the communication, a decision on the next steps will be taken by May 11. Employees have also been told they can reach out in case of any queries. The management thanked staff for their cooperation, patience and understanding during this period.

Legal challenges

I-PAC has been facing legal battles in the Supreme Court since January. This follows raids carried out by the Enforcement Directorate on January 8.

The searches were conducted at the residence of its director, Prateek Jain, as well as at the agency’s office in Salt Lake. The latest decision to pause operations comes against the backdrop of these developments.
