A fresh and volatile controversy has erupted surrounding the health of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi. On Tuesday, Khan was transported from incarceration to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for what hospital authorities described as a routine follow-up for eye treatment, CNN-News18 has learnt. While the medical facility maintains that the PTI chairman is in stable health and showing signs of clinical recovery, his family has countered with explosive allegations, claiming a deliberate attempt on his life via poisoning has left him partially blind.

The Medical Assessment: A Claim of Clinical Improvement

According to the official PIMS administration report, Khan was brought to the facility for the administration of his fourth intravitreal injection. Hospital officials stated that prior to the procedure, a panel of ophthalmologists conducted a thorough examination and declared him medically fit. The administration further highlighted that an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan was performed, which reportedly indicated a marked clinical improvement in the condition of his eye.

The procedure itself was carried out in a controlled surgical environment. Surgeons administered the fourth dose under microscopic guidance in the operation theatre, following what the hospital described as standard monitoring and strict medical protocols. The PIMS report paints a picture of a healthy individual undergoing a successful, planned medical intervention, with the administration asserting that the patient remains in good physical condition.

The Family’s Counter-Charge: Allegations of Poisoning

The medical report was immediately met with fierce resistance from Khan’s family, led by his sister, Aleema Khanum. Speaking to the press, she challenged the narrative of a “healthy" patient, questioning why a person in good physical standing would suddenly develop a clot in his eye. Aleema alleged that the situation is far more dire than the state is admitting, claiming that the former Prime Minister has already lost 85% of his vision in one eye, with the other eye now at risk of sympathetic deterioration.

Most controversially, the family has introduced a “poisoning" theory into the public discourse. Aleema alleged that independent experts have suggested the eye clot was caused by toxins introduced into his food. She demanded that comprehensive, independent tests be conducted and the raw medical reports be handed over to the family immediately. The allegation suggests that the ocular issues are not a natural medical ailment but the systemic result of a slow-acting poison intended to incapacitate the PTI leader.
