Bill Gates skips keynote address at India AI summit amid Epstein files controversy

Prime Minister Narendra Modiwill address the AI Impact Summit on Thursday (February 19, 2026), joined by fellow world leaders and senior tech executives. PM Modi’s address will be followed by keynote presentations by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Dennis Hassabis, and Reliance Industries Limited, chairman and managing director, Mukesh Ambani.

Earlier, Organisers of the AI Impact Summit ousted privateGalgotias University’s stall from the expo after it exhibited a China-made robodog as their in-house innovation, government officials said on Wednesday (February 18, 2026). “We don’t want unnecessary controversy that threatens to overshadow the good work other exhibitors are doing,” IT Secretary S. Krishnan said at a press conference. “There needs to be adherence to some code so that inauthentic behaviour is not promoted.”

The AI Impact Summit’s expo has been extended by one day, to Saturday (February 21, 2026), so that attendees can visit with more flexible security arrangements after all the multilateral events at the venue wind up, said Mr. Krishnan.

    U.S. tech giants announce India deals at AI summit

    Google said it would build new subsea cables from India and chip titan Nvidia unveiled tie-ups with computing firms on Wednesday as tech giants rushed to announce deals and investments at a global AI conference in New Delhi.

    “India’s going to have an extraordinary trajectory with AI and we want to be a partner,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai told reporters as the US firm unveiled a plan to boost connectivity to the South Asian country.

    Also on Wednesday, the California-based Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company, said it was teaming up with three Indian cloud computing providers to provide advanced processors for data centres that can train and run AI systems.
