The Yamuna River in Delhi is likely to reach 206 metres by August 19, crossing the danger mark of 205.33 metres, an advisory issued by the Central Water Commission said on Sunday (August 17, 2025). Around 7 p.m., the river crossed the warning level, reaching the mark of 204.60 metres at the Old Railway Bridge, it said. 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall for 10 coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh on Monday, August 18. The districts under red alert are Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Kakinada, East Godavari, Konaseema, West Godavari, NTR, and Guntur.

The Jammu and Kashmir government ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the Jammu region on Monday (August 18, 2025) in view of the inclement weather conditions, officials said. Sixty-eight persons lost their lives and 122 suffered injuries in three cloudbursts -- in the Chisoti village of the Kishtwar district and Jodh Ghati and Janglote areas of the Kathua district -- during the past four days.
