Amid an intense heatwave sweeping across Uttar Pradesh, the Banda district administration has introduced special measures to provide relief to commuters and traffic personnel as temperatures continue to soar above 46 degrees Celsius.

Speaking on the arrangements, Shivraj Prajapati said traffic police personnel deployed on roads have been provided with umbrellas and scarves to protect them from the scorching sun. In addition, shelters have been set up at major intersections and public squares to offer commuters temporary relief from the extreme heat.

Prajapati further stated that traffic signal lights have been temporarily shifted to “free flow" mode during peak afternoon hours to prevent people from being stranded at red lights under direct sunlight. Under this arrangement, vehicles can move continuously without stopping during the hottest part of the day, while the signals continue to operate normally during morning and evening hours.
