The lawyer further explained that Samarth avoided appearing publicly because an FIR carrying non-bailable charges had already been filed against him and his mother.

Samarth Singh, husband of Twisha Sharma, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances earlier this month, was “not hiding" during the 10 days he remained untraceable, his lawyer has claimed following his arrest in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur.

Samarth Singh had disappeared soon after Twisha’s death, prompting the Bhopal Police to announce a reward for information leading to his arrest. He was later detained after reportedly attempting to surrender before a court in Jabalpur.

However, his lawyer, Mrigendra Singh, argued that the period during which Samarth remained out of contact should not be treated as absconding.

“He was not hiding. There is a provision under Section 482 of the new BNSS that allows a person to seek anticipatory bail if they believe they have been unnecessarily implicated in a case," the lawyer told NDTV in an interview after the arrest.

According to him, Samarth initially chose to pursue legal protection before eventually deciding to surrender on legal advice.

The lawyer also expressed confidence that his client would be cleared during the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.

‘He Is Broken’: Lawyer Describes Samarth’s Mental State

Describing Samarth Singh’s condition after his wife’s death, the lawyer said he was emotionally shattered.

He claimed that on the day of the incident, Samarth had dropped Twisha at a beauty parlour, later picked her up, and the couple spent the evening together before she went upstairs, saying she “needed space".

The lawyer further explained that Samarth avoided appearing publicly because an FIR carrying non-bailable charges had already been filed against him and his mother, former judge Giribala Singh.

“If they had appeared without bail protection, they would have been arrested immediately," he said.

Lawyer Defends Remarks Made By Samarth’s Mother

The case has also drawn attention over remarks allegedly made by Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, about her character and personal life.

Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma, had earlier described the comments as “unfathomable" and insensitive.

However, Samarth’s lawyer defended the remarks, claiming Giribala Singh had only advised Twisha to remain committed to her marriage.

“After marriage, you will be honest. After marriage, you will be dedicated. Anyone will ask this," he said.

Claims Related To Pregnancy And Mental Trauma

The lawyer also addressed allegations linked to Twisha’s pregnancy and abortion.

He claimed Twisha had initially told doctors she did not want to continue with the pregnancy and had taken medication after consultation. According to him, she later changed her mind, but doctors informed her that the pregnancy could not continue.

The lawyer suggested that Twisha may have gone through emotional and psychological trauma during this period.

Fresh Allegations Against Twisha’s Family

Mrigendra Singh also made serious allegations against Twisha’s family, claiming they had put pressure on her and did not want her to settle into married life in Bhopal.

He further alleged that her family pushed her into glamour and financial pressures at a young age.

The lawyer also claimed that Twisha had told her mother-in-law about past relationships before her marriage to Samarth Singh.

The allegations come as the investigation into Twisha Sharma’s death continues, with the case now under a CBI probe.
