Dehradun: In a sophisticated blend of military discipline and strategic communication, the Indian Army has launched the Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0. Organized in collaboration with IconMetrix as the Strategic Partner and supported by Uttarakhand Tourism, this high-altitude endurance event serves as a blueprint for how large-scale initiatives can drive socio-economic growth in border regions. Scheduled for April 16–20, 2026, the event covers a 113-kilometre Himalayan trail run within the Badrinath-Kedarnath corridor.

Vikramm Sanas, Co-Founder and Chief Strategist of IconMetrix, has been the driving force behind the initiative’s strategic scale. By aligning the Indian Army’s outreach goals with professional PR and media management, IconMetrix has transformed this challenge into a national property of significant reputational value. The partnership ensures that the narrative of “Vibrant Villages” is communicated effectively to corporate India and the global adventure tourism market, with the active facilitation of Uttarakhand Tourism.

“The objective is to build a credible endurance property that aligns with national priorities,” stated Vikramm Sanas. “Through IconMetrix, we are ensuring that the Surya Devbhoomi Challenge 2.0 serves as a structured national platform for sustainable mountain tourism. We are focused on the brand-building of our border regions, ensuring that the impact of this collaboration between the Indian Army and our agency results in long-term benefits for local communities.”

Major Pushpendra Singh Rathod emphasized that the initiative combines endurance with a strategic context, allowing participants to engage with the heritage of the Himalayas. The high-profile nature of the event is underscored by the inauguration of the Badrinath Expo on April 16 by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan. This is followed by three days of endurance stages that navigate through traditional trails and remote habitations.

The program concludes on April 20 with a ceremony likely attended by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and top military leadership. This collaboration demonstrates how the Indian Army, supported by IconMetrix and Uttarakhand Tourism, can lead innovative movements that balance corporate expectations with public education. Through research-driven strategy, this challenge is set to redefine mountain engagement in India.
