The Indian Army has issued a clarification over a press conference video circulating on social media and television platforms, alleging that attempts were being made to damage the image of the force through “fake, malicious and misleading narratives".
The clarification came after a joint press conference attended by Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh and Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Manoj Jha, where four former servicemen were reportedly present. During the press conference, the former servicemen allegedly raised concerns related to service conditions and the functioning of the Army, claims later rejected by the force.
In a statement posted on X by ADG PI – Indian Army, the Army said the individuals seen in the video were either dismissed from service for misconduct or are currently facing disciplinary and legal proceedings.
According to the statement, Chandu Chavan, Harendra Yadav and P Narender were dismissed from service on grounds of indiscipline and “unsoldierly conduct".
The fourth individual, identified as Shankar Singh Gujjar, has been declared a deserter since November 2024. The Army said disciplinary proceedings against him are ongoing in both military and civil courts.

“A press conference video is being circulated across media and social media platforms with an attempt to malign the image of the Indian Army," the statement said.
The Army further alleged that the four individuals were deliberately spreading “fake, malicious and misleading narratives" on social media to divert attention from their own misconduct and dismissal from service.
It also accused them of spreading false information regarding service conditions and attempting to create divisions within the force by promoting an “Officer-Men divide".
According to the Army, the narratives being circulated were aimed at shifting focus away from allegations related to desertion, intoxication and insubordination.
The Army also advised citizens not to fall prey to propaganda and misinformation being spread online.
